Diedrich Farms, located in Brown County just outside of Green Bay, is a very technologically advanced operation, contributing to ease of use for the owners. From the cross vent system, to the lights, to the feed and milking systems, everything is automated in some way shape or form, making the operation most about paying attention to the cows, and less about other things.
The cross ventilation system is temperature controlled by a logic system, activating fans and curtains based on the ambient temperature in the barn, as well as the time of year.
A customized dimming system runs both long and short day programs in the same barn. The side of the barn with the milking cows provieds a long-day program, while the alley containing the dry cows runs on a short day program, making the most of avialable daylight to conserve the most energy possible. Dimming is used in both sides to provide night lighting during dark hours, with full brightness avaialable at the push of a button.
LED Lighting ensures robot rooms are bright for safety.
The fan wall of this cross vent barn moves an enormous volume of air effectively.
a disconnect for controls, along with a dimmer switch for the local pen lights, make operation in work areas quick and easy.
when dimmed, as on the right, the light system still provides superb night lighting, with full brightness available at the press of a button.
Illumination ensures the cows are perfectly happy to go through the robot stalls at their leisure.
Good Illumination in the barn makes for cow and human comfort alike.
The barn runs two programs simultaneously, a long day for the milk cows on the left, along with a short day for the dry cows on the right.
